Beato Home was launched in 2023 by Lisa Casoni and Heather Stobo, the former owners of the Porch Gallery Ojai. They were inspired to create a reproduction of artist Beatrice “Beato” Wood’s ceramic dinnerware after displaying the original sets as part of an exhibition at Porch Gallery, where they drew numerous inquiries from guests. The fragility of the pieces (made in 1960), and the price ($10,000) made the series unattainable for most of their customer base so Lisa and Heather partnered with
the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts to recreate more affordable and accessible pieces.
“Beatrice Wood combines her colors like a painter, makes them vibrate like a musician. They have strength even while iridescent and transparent. They have the rhythm and luster of both jewels and human eyes. Water poured from one of her jars will taste like wine.”
